Prosecutor M.J. Hurney, Attorney-at-Law, serves in various prosecution roles, including as City Prosecutor for the City of Crane.
BEFORE READING FURTHER - - Are you on the right page? Please ensure you’re reading the correct directions. The top of your ticket/summons should indicate it is a Crane Municipal charge, with court being held at the county courthouse, 110 S. Maple Street in Galena, Missouri. The charge would have been submitted by the Crane Police Department. This should not be confused with the Galena Municipal Court or state cases at the courthouse.
Out-of-court contact with the prosecutor is generally restricted to electronic communications, as described below. Since the prosecutor may need to reach you before court, it is important you provide up-to-date contact information with your submission; this includes your cell phone number and email address.
NOTE: Providing your contact information to the prosecutor does NOT update your contact information with the court. It is always important to keep your contact information current with the court, as they will mail important notices to the address in their file. A change of address form for the court is: here.

The Court Clerks nor the prosecutor can supply you with legal advice. Please follow the directions below concerning case disposition options and how to request those from the prosecutor. If you cannot understand these directions/options, or cannot understand the legal implications of a disposition, you need to consult a private attorney or appear in court.
Pro-Se Litigants (Representing yourself):
First, please ensure you’re reading the correct directions. Your ticket/summons should indicate it is a City of Crane Municipal charge, with court being held at the county courthouse, 110 S. Maple Street in Galena, Missouri. The charge would have been submitted by the Crane Police Department.
Second, contact with the City Prosecutor is limited to this portal; he does not take direct phone calls from defendants. Once your submission is made, the prosecutor will reach out as necessary. Do NOT contact the court clerks, city hall, or county prosecutor’s office regarding offers, as they are not involved in this process. If you cannot understand these directions/options, or cannot understand the legal implications of a disposition, you need to consult a private attorney or appear in court.

Other Tickets:
Pro-Se litigants have two pre-court options to contact the prosecutor, as listed below. Defendants may only make one request per case.
BOTH PACKETS CONTAIN SPECIFIC TIME DEADLINES. PLEASE READ THEM THOROUGHLY.
1. Disposition Packet Request: If your case is not “plea and pay” eligible on CaseNet and/or does not have a published fine, you may request a disposition packet. CLICK HERE for directions for obtaining a disposition packet.
—OR--
2. Case Evaluation Requests: If you are seeking to have your case(s) evaluated by the prosecutor and believe an agreement should be considered, the directions are available HERE (CLICK). TIMING: If you cannot meet the time constraints in this packet, you may request a one-time continuance from the Court (417-357-6511). IF the Court grants a court date change, this should allow you time to meet the deadlines in this packet. Continuances are governed and granted by the Court, not by the prosecutor’s office. DO NOT submit this packet if you are not meeting the deadlines, as we will be unable to assist you.
Court Day facetime (limited): The prosecutor is available at court on court days, but has very limited time, as court can be very busy. Attorneys waiting for the prosecutor will be given preference in line. To secure a better chance of communications, please follow the above guidelines regarding online arrangements.
Defendants who are represented by an attorney should not contact the prosecutor directly; they must contact their attorney.
